The Alfa Romeo 147 is a small family car built with a hatchback body that has replaced the 145/146 models. 147 was named Car of the Year in 2001. The 147 is produced on a larger sedan 156 chassis and has 1.6, 2.0-liter linear four-cylinder petrol engines and a 1.9-liter diesel engine. Designed by Walter de’Silva and Wolfgang Egger, the 147 was universally recognized as an attractive car and has won several design awards. In 2004, the 147 was upgraded - the front became more aggressive and more similar to the new 159 and Brera models. Despite criticism of the somewhat too light steering wheel, which makes drivers feel less secure but helps maneuver in tight parking lots, the 147’s handling has also been praised. Another 147 criticisms relate to lack of space inside and sporty seats, with poor lateral support. In addition, the car, like the usual Alfa Romeo, suffers from poor residual value. It should be mentioned that the most powerful 147 variant had a powerful 3.2 GTA V6 engine with 184 kW (250 hp) / 6200 rpm and 300 Nm / 4800 rpm of torque, this model accelerates to 100km / h in 6.3 s.
The well-designed Alfa Romeo 147 was chosen in 2001 as the European Mondeo and Toyota Prius for the European Car of the Year.

The Alfa Romeo 147 was once one of the longest-running models in Europe - it was only replaced in 2010 by the Alfa Romeo Giulietta.

  • The Alfa Romeo 147 has won more than 27 different awards, including:
  • 2011 European Car of the Year;
  • 2000 Das Goldene Lenkrad - Golden Steering Wheel Award from the German magazine BILD is SONNTAG;
  • Award of the German magazine Auto Bild in 2001;
  • Design Award for the French magazine Trophées du design in 2000;
  • The best imported car in Brazil in 2002.
