Citroen C5 X, 2021 - present
Citroën has not had a luxury model in its range for some time now - the imposing C6, built fifteen years ago, has far from justified the demands of the luxury cars dictated by Mercedes, BMW and Audi. The C5 model could not compete in the crowded D sector dominated by cars such as the Volkswagen Passat, Toyota Avensis, Kia Optima and the like. The Citroën DS5 was a very interesting model - the last to carry the Citroën flag in the luxury car segment, but it is no longer in production. But now the French company is coming back and coming back to learn from older lessons. The new Citroën C5 X is completely different - it is a radical and versatile model with a unique body, it does not apply to any specific segment. The new model stands out not only for its original appearance, but also for its versatility. It is both a roomy station wagon and a sturdy crossover, as well as a coupe with a sloping rear end typical of GT Coupe-style cars. It is a car that has taken the best parts from different car classes and offers everything in one body. There are not many such cars on the market yet - maybe Toyota Venza or Honda Crosstour. Robust shapes combined with sleek lines create a dynamic and elegant look. Citroën's decision was driven by different customer needs: they are now looking for cars that look attractive and perform all the necessary functions at the same time. This is exactly what the C5 X is all about - the trunk of the car is designed to meet the needs of practical drivers and to the standards of a station wagon. It has a capacity of 545 liters and can carry up to 1,640 liters of cargo when the rear seat is lowered. The cheapest option is powered by a 1.2-liter just three-cylinder petrol engine with a turbocharger that develops 128 hp. In addition, there is a 1.6-liter four-cylinder petrol unit with 178 hp. Unlike smaller Citroën cars, the C5 X comes with only an eight-speed automatic transmission. A hybrid version of the C5 X is available and mains-operated, which is best suited for urban operating conditions and everyday use without any restrictions. The 1.6-liter four-cylinder petrol engine, combined with an electric motor and 13.2 kWh battery, delivers 222 hp, while the electric motor offers about 50 kilometers (according to the WLTP methodology) of electricity alone - a distance perfect for most everyday city trips. When driving in electric-only mode, a maximum of 135 km / h is possible speed.
