The Citroen XM is often referred to as the “last real Citroen”. This extraordinary car was built on the same platform as the Peugeot 605, only unlike Peugeot, the Citroen is a hatchback. The design concept of the Citroen XM was very innovative at the time - the car, developed by Bertone's design studio, had large dimensions, a tapering, extremely low front end, at that time unusually narrow headlights, large windows and a liftable tailgate. XM tried to solve some of the problems that plagued the older Citroen - the company's flagship body was galvanized, and the car was also equipped with a powerful 3.0 L V6 engine. In 1994, the XM was refurbished with standard installation of the driver's airbag, belt tensioners, and a redesigned front panel. One of the outstanding features of the XM is the hydropneumatic electronically controlled suspension with metal spheres filled with gas and acting as both springs and shock absorbers. The car's interior is extremely comfortable, and it quickly gets used to its unusual appearance. Heavy loads are easy to load by lowering the body to the lowest position. However, the Citroen XM also has "French" problems - these are common electronic failures that cause the control unit's devices and computers to strike. Another XM disease is too rapid wear of the steering system. Before buying, it is worth checking the suspension, although the suspension itself is reliable, is airtight and rarely breaks down.
