Ferrari SF90 Stradale, 2019 - present
Looking at this Ferrari, the question arises - what is it for and how does it differ from other Ferrari? At first glance, it resembles a light sporty Ferrari with a rear-mounted V8 engine, just like the F8 Tributo model. So why does a company need another such model? First the name of the car. Part of the name, SF90, is the same as the code name for the Formula 1 car of the 2019 season, which in turn commemorates the 90th anniversary of the company’s racing team, the Scuderia Ferrari. It's been almost a hundred years ... Well, and Stradale, of course, means the way. So should this be an F1 car for the road? This car has some similarities to F1 cars. First of all, it is a hybrid car with a 7.9 kWh lithium-ion battery that can be charged from the mains and also regenerates energy during braking. These batteries are enough to drive the car 26 km in electric mode alone. Two electric motors drive the front wheels (one for each wheel) and provide a vector power distribution. Because the car can be powered solely by electric motors, the SF90 Stradale is the first Ferrari to be powered solely by the front wheels. Electric motors also act as a reverse gear because the main eight-speed dual-clutch transmission does not have a reverse gear. Although the car has "just" eight-cylinder and four-liter engines, it develops an impressive 780 hp (574 kW) at 7,500 rpm with two turbochargers. And along with all three electric motors (the third is between the motor and the gearbox) that adds 220 hp, the SF90 Stradale has a total power of 1000 hp (735 kW) and 800 Nm of torque. And it’s one of the most powerful Ferrari ever, even more powerful than the 6.3-liter V12 engine and also the Ferrari LaFerrari supercar with a hybrid powertrain. It is the fastest company car to bypass the Ferrari Fiorino test track. This extraordinary car accelerates to 100 km / h in just 2.5 seconds and is one of the few such cars in the world. But the SF90 Stradale also has its drawbacks: this hybrid car weighs as much as 1,600 kg. Like a good SUV. And that’s as much as 300kg more than a Ferrari LaFerrari with a V12 engine and as much as 400kg more than, say, a McLaren Senna. So, this car, no matter how fast on the track, is more for the road than its name suggests.
