In 2010, a real Ford "horse" went on sale - the fifth generation Ford Explorer. The styling of the new SUV is clearly reminiscent of the Focus and Taurus models for the US market. The front of the car is adorned with multi-stage headlights and a massive three-level Ford radiator grille. At the rear - tail lights of similar style. The front and side window pillars are black, giving the lightness, space and “hanging” roof effect already seen in Land Rover cars (not surprising since the new SUV designer Jim Holland had previously led the Land Rover Range Rover SUV design). The car lines are restrained, tight, but not boring - a true American SUV style. Inside - the same restrained dashboard design and the power of a variety of equipment. Manufacturers can also boast that this is the first car with airbags on seat belts. Compared to the latest Explorer model, the debutant is 45 kg lighter and more economical. At the start of production, the car was equipped with one of two engines: a 3.5-liter Ti-VCT V6 with 290 hp (345 Nm) and a 2-liter four-cylinder EcoBoost engine with 237 hp (339 Nm). The standard car is powered by the front wheels, and an all-wheel drive system that distributes torque between the front and rear axles electronically can be ordered at an additional cost.
