In 2008, the new Fiesta, which shares its platform with the Mazda 2, saw the light of day. Ford hopes the new car will become a true global model, so the Fiesta will be sold in various parts of the world. The new model has retained similar dimensions to the old one, but is lighter, more robust, and the design has nothing to do with the old one. The Fiesta uses a new Ford-promoted Kinetic-style design adapted by almost all Ford models. The engine range ranges from 1.25 to 1.6 Ti-VCT (Twin independent Variable Camshaft Timing). Many magazines have named the Ford Fiesta as the new class leader and a very well-designed car. For Koger, this is true, as it is not for nothing that the Fiesta landed only 1 vote in favor of the Opel Insignia in the 2009 European Car Elections.
In 2009, the 3,500,000th Fiesta was produced since its inception 33 years ago. In this way, the Fiesta became the second most popular car in British history after the Ford Escort. This generation Fiesta became the best-selling car in the UK in both 2009 and 2010.

This car represents the Ford brand in the WRC Rally Championship, as well as many other lesser known championships.

The car was well received by the media, which was reflected in various awards:
  • Car Magazine named the car of the year;
  • Britain's What Car? Magazine named the car Car of the Year;
  • Auto Express magazine named the car the Car of the Year and the best car in its class;
  • In Top Gear, the car was voted "Least Boring Car";
  • In the 2009 European Car Elections, the Opel Insignia dropped by only 1 vote.
  • In 2011, the car was selected as one of the five most environmentally friendly cars, where it also competed with hybrid cars Nissan Leaf and Chevrolet Volt (according to the Green Car Journal).
