In 1985, Ford introduced its flagship, the Ford Scorpio, to the European market. As a strange car, it was first introduced with a hatchback body, which was very unusual. In such an original way, Koger tried to enter a market dominated by classic German sedans. True, this oddity Ford later rectified by introducing a sedan and even later a station wagon, but that was later. Still, it has to be admitted that even the hatchback bodywork for this big car is quite in spite of the teak. The attractive Ford Scorpio was a cheaper but no less luxurious alternative to the angled Mercedes-Benz 124 and 5 Series BMW models. The closest competitor is the Opel Omega a little later. The Ford Scorpio stood out from the competition with its modern aerodynamic design, large interior space, quiet interior and practical trunk. Despite the gimbal tunnel, the rear passenger floor was flat enough to comfortably seat three adults. One of Scorpio’s drawbacks was either weak engines or more powerful but very uneconomical ones. In 1992, Scorpio received upgrades - new rounder bumpers, rounder headlights and larger taillights. The interior has also been updated - the biggest change is that the main controls are now housed in the center console.
