Realizing that you can’t rest on your laurels forever, Honda updated the CR-V in 2002. The second-generation CR-V is a completely redesigned SUV, built on the base of the seventh-generation Civic and powered by a new K-Series engine. Despite the power increase, the new CR-V retains the name of an economical SUV, thanks to the engine’s i-VTEC system. The newly designed chassis increased rigidity, with a MacPherson-type suspension at the front, while the two-arm suspension at the rear remained. The new CR-V is also more comfortable, safer, more spacious, more powerful and more manoeuvrable, but like the old one, it remained very fun to drive, with excellent cornering. It is a reliable, economical, well-designed and practical car with a large luggage compartment. Cons? Well it’s not a real SUV, so off-road its options are limited.
