Honda Integra, 2001 - 2006
The Honda Integra DC5 is also known as the Acura RSX in North America. The new model is produced on a completely new platform unlike the older Integros, which was produced on a Civic platform. The new chassis is shared with the 2001 Civic. Honda hoped to attract older, richer buyers, so the car had luxury accessories. The Integros suspension is MacPherson-type at the front and double wishbones at the rear. This somewhat disappointed some Honda enthusiasts who were accustomed to seeing the double wishbone system in use both at the front and rear. The new K-Series engines have considerable potential for “tuning” and feature a VTEC or (i-VTEC) system that electronically regulates valve lift times and gives the 2.0-liter engine a smoother torque curve compared to older VTEC engines. The Honda Integra Type-R for the Japanese market has an increased maximum speed limit of up to 8300 rpm. Honda Integra Type-R sold in Japan, Australia and some other markets has a 220 hp / 164 kW K20A engine, lower weight, stiffer springs and shock absorbers, 4-cylinder Brembo brakes, 17 "wheels with Bridgestone Potenza tires and Recaro velor seats.
