The Honda Prelude is a sports coupe car that has been released for as many as five generations. Prelude’s long-standing competitors were the 4-cylinder Toyota Celica, Nissan Silvia, Mitsubishi FTO, Mitsubishi Eclipse, Ford Probe and Mazda MX-6 models. Of all these contemporaries, only Eclipse is still produced. The third-generation Prelude was very similar to the second, but it was a brand new model with the most powerful 2.0-liter DOHC PGM-FI 150 hp (110 kW) engine. The Prelude introduced some noteworthy innovations: first, it was the first production car in the world to have a 4WS all-wheel drive system. To date, the 3rd generation Prelude remains the only car with a mechanical 4WS system (others were electronic). This Prelude also had the lowest engine hood of all the front-engined cars in the world. As a result, the car had an excellent visibility zone, higher economy, lower wind noise and a good air resistance factor of 0.34. This model is also known as the “small NSX” due to its similar roof line, low front bonnet, continuous taillights and excellent handling. A 1987 article was published in Road & Track magazine in which the 1988 2.0 Si 4WS beat all cars of the time in the Honda Prelude slalom race, including all Lamborghini, Ferrari and Porsche! The Prelude reached an excellent speed of 105.4 km / h in the race, while the 1988 Corvette score is only 104.4 km / h. Wheels magazine named the Prelude a 1987 car.
