The sixth-generation Sonata (known in European markets as the i40), like the latest Hyundai models, “wears” the company’s successfully developed style called “sculptural flow”. The design of the car bears no resemblance to its predecessor - it has become more sleek, with soft intertwined lines. The sedan, in its body shape, resembles a four-door coupe car such as the Volkswagen Passat CC or Mercedes-Benz CLS. Not only has the car grown significantly, but it has become more powerful, safer and more economical. This is one of Hyundai’s most important models, so it must properly represent the company and draw standards that will later be implemented in smaller models. The interior is dominated by similar lines as the car's exterior - smooth lines provide a quiet cruise, design ideas may not be new (panel shape, instrument lighting somewhat similar to the Honda Accord), but look harmonious and very luxurious. Is this really Hyundai? All i40 has not only a high-quality interior, but also a number of comfort equipment, as well as other attributes typical of more luxurious cars - a standard iPod connection, Bluetooth headset. More expensive versions have solid sound equipment, dual-zone climate control, lacquered interior trim, gearshift lever behind the steering wheel, navigation system with touch screen, and more. The car is made of hot-stamped high-strength steel. Although the i40 has only a few engines, they should meet the needs of many. It is a 2.0-liter Theta II MPi petrol unit with 165 hp, 202 Nm of torque and a direct-injection Theta II GDI 2.4-liter four-cylinder diesel engine with 201 hp. Both engines are also equipped with new six-speed automatic transmissions. The new i40 is also expected to feature hybrid drive with newly developed lithium polymer battery technology. It seems that the Hyundai-Kia Group is not unnecessarily seeking to intervene among the powerful in the automotive industry and is trying to say it out loud.
