The small Kia crossover Niro is positioned as the first hybrid crossover abbreviated to HUV (Hybrid Utility Vehicle). The main trump card of the car is a relatively inexpensive car with the same interior and trunk space as the Toyota Prius, in addition, the Niro has improved passability (at least more ground clearance) and a fairly good equipment. From the outside, the car looks just like a scaled-down version of the Kia Sportage - it stands out in the wide mini-market, although it is very cleverly (moderately) designed. On the other hand, the main selling point of this car is not design but hybrid technology. Kia Niro's hybrid technology, combined with an economical internal combustion engine, helps achieve low emissions and fuel consumption. Kia's 1.6-liter four-cylinder Kappa engine develops 103 hp and 147 Nm of torque. This motor is combined with a 32 kW electric motor and 1.56 kWh lithium polymer batteries. 140 hp of total wheel power is transmitted via a modern six-speed dual-clutch transmission (6DCT) and allows a maximum torque of 264 Nm to be achieved. The interior of the car is characterized by clarity and commendable quality, which is not typical for all cars in this class and surpasses the quality of the interior of the latest generation Toyota Prius. So, for those looking for an ultra-economical, stylish, compact city car, the Kia Niro may be the only such inexpensive alternative so far.
