With the recent emergence of more and more “new generation” cars i.e. electric cars we notice the game of the manufacturers with their names. Some manufacturers are introducing electric cars as a new line in their range (eg Mercedes EQ, Volkswagen ID, BMW i), while others are using heavy artillery to help them name their electric cars - say Ford is releasing a new Mustang The Ford Mustang Mach-E, which will be completely unlike our usual musclecar, and Mazda has used the MX name for this purpose, which of course will have nothing to do with small sporty coupes or convertibles. The Mazda MX-30 is a crossover built on the base of a similarly sized Mazda CX-30 crossover. The somewhat unusual but very attractive look of the MX-30 stands out with its unusual lines and different colored body areas. The sloping rear says style, not practicality, will be the strong side of the MX-30. This is confirmed by the small side rear doors opening in the opposite direction to the movement - there are no middle pillars here, so the interior space looks unusual. A similar solution was used in the Mazda RX-8 sports car with a rotor engine, as well as in the electric BMW i3. The Mazda electric car has a relatively small 35.5 kWh battery that generates 141 hp, which will allow the MX-30 to cover a distance of 210 km on a single charge. It is a short distance, but it should suffice in urban conditions, as many people drive only about 30 km a day. In addition, installing a small battery is a greener solution because the car will have to recycle a smaller battery at the end of its service life, which means lower costs. Of course, a smaller battery will have to be charged more often - hopefully a little inconvenience in the name of Mother Nature. The small Honda e electric car has similar data, and the Polestar 2, of a similar size but much more expensive, has a battery with a capacity of 78 kWh, which can be charged for a distance of up to 500 km. Mazda says a slightly more expensive version of the MX-30 with an additional rotary engine will be available a little later. It will not spin, but will act as an extremely quiet generator for long trips. In addition, the advantage of a rotary engine is that it can burn virtually any fuel - it can also be adapted to liquefied gas or even hydrogen fuel. Driving pleasure is an essential feature of all Mazda cars and is emphasized by the manufacturer. So it is promised that the car will be perfectly controlled, and in the cabin Mazda engineers installed an electronic sound system that simulates the sound emitted by the internal combustion engine. A very interesting solution that may make it easier to intuitively understand the car’s behavior on the road, and if it doesn’t help it will be a fun device when you choose the sound emitted by the Porsche 911 or Lamborghini Huracan.
