McLaren MP4-12C, 2010 - 2014
No more waiting - the new McLaren MP4-12C with center-mounted engine and rear-wheel drive has appeared! The complex name of the car is derived from the McLaren F1 sports car encoding MP4, where the number "12" means the internal serial number of the project and the letter "C" means that the car's body is made of carbon fiber. This car replaces the legendary supercar McLaren F1, which reaches 390 km / h. The new car’s M838T engine is a 3.8-liter V8 with two turbines capable of developing 600 hp (447 kW) of power and 572 Nm of torque. The MP4-12C uses a range of Formula 1 technologies, such as "braking to drive" - a system that brakes the inner wheel to turn more quickly, and is the first production car to feature a full-carbon monocoque, as in F1 cars, which weighs only 80 kg. Engine power is transmitted through a two-clutch 7-speed gearbox with Pre-Cog, which allows you to shift gears by pressing just half the gear lever travel behind the steering wheel. This allows you to shift gears even faster. Comparing the MP4-12C and the previous model F1 is pointless as the two cars are very different. The F1 is a supercar for the chosen ones, for whom the amount of money spent is completely irrelevant, while the MP4-12C will not cost a cosmic amount, and the number of units planned to be produced is expected to be considerable. The main competitors for this car will be the Ferrari 458 Italia and the Lamborghini Gallardo.
