If we take the S-Class Mercedes, the world's most luxurious car, and cross it with the pioneer of electrical technology, the Tesla Model S, we get this Mercedes-Benz EQS. It is the most technologically advanced car in the world. It has everything that has been developed in the automotive industry: it can be equipped with up to 350 different sensors that record distance, speed, lighting conditions, precipitation, temperature, occupied seating, passenger speech, and more. The car can communicate, open and close doors, track and memorize your actions, memorize road conditions, offer what you need now or what you will need in 15 minutes, and take care of maximum passenger safety. We are much more interested in other things - what kind of audience does the company target with this model and how does it differ from the S-Class Mercedes. First of all, the Mercedes-Benz EQS is a large 5.2-meter-long limousine, a true brother to the S-Class. However, it has a much smaller front end as it does not need to accommodate eight cylinders. It also has a very practical trunk, as technically the EQS is a hatchback. Because the trunk is not very large, it is more a tribute to the fashion that has been dictated recently by Tesla Model S and Porsche Taycan hatchbacks. This Mercedes also has an extremely spacious interior. The Mercedes-Benz EQS looks like a practical and maximally luxurious, quiet and pleasant transport capsule, especially considering that driving it is not interesting and the owner is likely to rest on the rear seats. It's not so much an image car as a Mercedes-Benz S-Class, but rather a car for a really pleasant time while transporting you from point A to point B. The Mercedes-Benz EQS has no front boot - that space is occupied by air conditioners and other appliances. Mercedes-Benz does not even provide access to these devices, so the window washer refill is mounted on the side wing. Not only does the short and compact front provide more space in the cabin, but it can also be used efficiently for smoothness - providing even more silence in the cabin and reducing energy consumption. The EQS turns out to be the most aerodynamic production car in the world, with a drag coefficient of Cd of just 0.20 and ahead of the Tesla Model 3 with a Cd of 0.208. The energy consumption of the car is as follows: the EQS 450+ model ranges from 15.7 to 20.4 kWh and the EQS 580 4MATIC from 17.4 to 21.8 kWh. The first EQS 450+ develops 245 kW and the EQS 580 4MATIC 385 kW. Mercedes-Benz also plans to introduce the most powerful version of the EQS, reaching 560 kW. I wonder how many new meters this version will have ... Under the EQS floor - 108 kWh battery, which allows to travel 770 km between charges according to WLTP. You can also choose a cheaper version with a 90 kWh battery, which will be enough for a distance of 640 km. The large EQS is also perfect for city conditions - thanks to the 4.5-degree rotating rear wheels, just 10.9 meters is enough to turn the car. You can order a version with even 10-degree swivel rear wheels - which is really a lot. Inside the car, passengers are greeted by a glass front panel. The curved solid screen, which extends from one pillar to the next, hides three separate screens under the protective glass. There will also be no screens for rear passengers. Similarly, the Mercedes-Benz EQS is the market benchmark in terms of comfort, convenience and cabin silence.
