Unbelievable - the old C-Class Mercedes looks like an outdated model, but has been in production for eight years. This was what happened in the W205 generation, the prestigious compact sector Mercedes, with its popularity, significantly outpacing its nearest competitors - the third series BMW and Audi A4. We now have the new W206 model, which is welcomed with an updated but not drastically changed design. The only thing that catches my eye is the front grille on the radiator, which now widens from top to bottom as the old ones have narrowed. The angle of the grille has also changed - it has become much steeper compared to the sloping old model. At the rear, we see the same sloping rounded design, but the taillights have lost their integrity and become analogous to those used in the CLA and CLS - coupe-style sedan classes. The newcomer has also lost the most charming detail of the cogger's predecessor - two bright lines running sideways. Quite a few new lines have appeared on the hood - beautiful. Inside, we see a similar style - the glossy center console, round air vents, the door control buttons mounted on the door seem to resemble a predecessor, but inside the car gives a completely different feeling. The massive instrument panel is gone, we see a lot of space and an LCD screen in front of it, instead of the center console we see an even bigger 11.9-inch vertical LCD screen, instead of the traditional three-spoke steering wheel we see an unconventional six-spoke steering wheel. The transformation is bold and fair - the car's interior looks much more modern than the third-series BMW or Audi A4. However, there are drawbacks - hard plastic is used in the lower parts of the panel and center console. This is somewhat surprising. In this Mercedes-Benz and for the first time in this segment, a central airbag is fitted between the driver's and passenger's seats to protect front-seat occupants from the risk of a head-on accident. You can talk to this Mercedes as well as anyone else - in the settings you can specify how tall you are and the intelligent car systems will adapt the seat for you. The car has an augmented reality function - with navigation, the image broadcast by your car's cameras is activated on the central instrument panel display, and the augmented reality system shows where to turn or which lane to select with arrows and lines in live view. This Mercedes can be fitted with Digital Light, which can warn the driver of obstacles on the road by generating a stream of light. Suppose car radars detect a person and form a light projection indicating where the person is. The sedan version increased by 6.5 cm compared to its predecessor, the station wagon by 4.9 cm, and the wheelbase increased by 2.5 cm. The width of the model increased by 1 cm and the height decreased by 1 cm. The rear wheels on this model are steered and can rotate 2.5 degrees. The weakest petrol versions have 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbo engines. The more powerful petrol versions C300 and C300 4Matic have 2 L displacement engines. Two diesel versions of the C220 d and C300 d with 2 L displacement engines are also available. The engines are equipped with a 9-speed automatic transmission. By the way, the new C-Class Mercedes AMG C43 and C45 versions will have four-cylinder engines. There will also be a version of the C63 that will also have four-cylinder engines ... and an electric motor and cogger artificial exhaust sound. Yes, this power plant will have a total of about 600 hp. But it’s certainly not the same as every 600 hp from a V8 engine. We’re used to seeing the AMG 43 or AMG 63 as something massive, powerful, screaming and just crazy. The AMG branding seems to be losing its meaning - now it's just a low-volume hybrid car. Wouldn't it be time to retire the honorable title of AMG C63 and come up with something new for the new hybrid power plant?
