Mercedes-Benz GLS Class, 2019 - present
The Mercedes company introduces us to a completely new successor to the GL Mercedes called the GLS. The letter S at the back tells us that this is the most luxurious and apart from the G-Class the largest Mercedes SUV. It’s great that Mercedes designers have left this large SUV with an angled design. The somewhat modest but solid lines fit perfectly with the image of the car. And this newcomer will definitely need image help - he once competed only with Land Rover's competitors, but lately he has been under pressure not only from Volvo with the XC90, Audi with the Q8 but most importantly with the massive and uncompromising BMW X7. The dimensions of the GLS must be used for this: its length is 5207 mm (77 mm longer than its predecessor), its width is 1956 mm (22 mm wider), and its wheelbase has become 60 mm longer, rising to 3135 mm. As a result, the seven-seater SUV provides plenty of space for each passenger inside - the second row of seats has increased the legroom by 87 mm, and the third can comfortably accommodate people up to 194 cm tall. Only two luxury seats with armrests are fitted in the second row of seats, creating a gap between them that makes it extremely easy to get into the third row. This configuration is very convenient when child seats are installed in the second or third row of seats. The cabin is equipped with a five-zone climate control system, one of which is exclusively for the third row. It also has USB ports and cup holders. In fact, the car has a total of 11 USB ports! All GLS models have a 4 MATIC four-wheel drive transmission and a 9-speed automatic transmission. The intelligent system can transmit up to 100 percent of the car's grip. power per axle, adjust the ground clearance of each wheel and adjust the adhesion of each wheel to the surface, slow down or accelerate the vehicle. And all this done in a very comfortable style. In fact, you can individually adjust the ground clearance of each wheel to your liking, and getting stuck in the sand can help you with the jump function. All this is done thanks to the active suspension. Not surprisingly, such an exceptional car is equipped with autonomous driving features such as deceleration, acceleration, driving in traffic jams, bending function and cruise control capable of slowing the car in turns and returning to its original state in a straight line. The GLS has not only an autonomous parking function, but also a car wash mode - which folds the mirrors, raises the suspension, retracts (!) The wheels in a few centimeters, switches on the air conditioning and switches off the wipers. True, the quality of interior materials is not without flaws - in some places plastic is used cheap, and some buttons also do not look very high quality assembled. The massive SUV can even be equipped with 23-inch rims, and those who like glitter will be able to enjoy the chrome exhaust pipes even if they are only sham in the diesel versions.
