When the first-generation Porsche Boxster was launched in 1996, it set new standards for handling and dynamics in the roadster class. 16 years later, company executives declare that this generation car will set an example for today’s competitors. Building one side of the next for all generations of the Boxster will make it clear that the car’s design is evolutionary - nothing surprising, such is the Porsche style. Still, the Boxster is pleasing to the eye - the dynamic lines and proportions are perfectly balanced, all the details are thought out and finished. The wheelbase became 60 mm longer, the track was wider, the windshield was pulled slightly forward and became more sloping. The Porsche Boxster is somewhat reminiscent of the company's new supercar, the 918 hybrid. But the most interesting design detail is at the back. Here, the automatic spoiler simply fits beautifully into the silhouette of the taillights and does its job well - pressing the rear of the car to the road surface. Inside, the Boxster meets a strict German order and the same German quality. Here the lines are restrained, simple, maybe even a little too simple. On the other hand, the driver will be given a sense of sportiness and full control of the car. The new electromechanical power steering is the same as the new 911 models - it looks a bit too light at first, but is the most perfect power steering of its kind on the market. Needless to say, the wider, longer base, all-aluminum new Boxster with a mid-mounted engine just stands flawlessly on the road. The base Boxster has a 2.7-liter six-cylinder opposition engine with direct fuel injection that is ten horsepower more powerful than the old one - 265 hp. This model is simply called the Boxster and accelerates to 100 km / h in 5.4 seconds. The more powerful S-version has a 3.4-liter engine developing 315 hp - five more than the model it replaces. Boxster S dynamic parameters - 4.7 sec. up to 100 km / h. Thus, the new Boxster has become more perfect in all respects, but at the same time has not lost the aura of simplicity that fascinated everyone in the old 1996 first-generation model.
