The third generation 200 model became smaller than the previous ones and it was a brand new car developed by the Rover company. Launched with 1.4i 16v (105 hp) and 1.6i 16v (111 hp) petrol engines and a 2.0 turbodiesel (86 hp, with 105 hp versions with intercooler), the engine range was later expanded to 1.1i (60 hp) and 1.4i 8v (75 hp) engines and the most powerful 1.8 16v (120 hp) and 1.8 16v with variable valve control system (145 hp). Despite the disappointing interior quality, this 200 still has the aura of luxury that Rover has. Initially very well sold in the UK, the 200 still didn’t make as many sales as its predecessor.
