Introduced in 2004, the practical second-generation Octavia is built on the Volkswagen A5 (PQ35) platform, which is also used by other Volkswagen Group cars - Audi A3 II, VW Golf Mk5, VW Jetta Mk5, Seat Leon II, Seat Altea, VW Golf Plus, VW Touran and VW Tiguan. Along with the new engines, which are also used in other Volkswagen Group models, the Octavia has an attractive, albeit simple, interior with more space for the rear passenger's feet, higher-quality materials and higher ground clearance. A version of all-wheel drive called the Octavia Scout with a universal body is also available. This Octavia has 40 mm higher ground clearance than the standard model. Overall, the Octavia is very popular with practical drivers for its quality, spaciousness and good price.
