Subaru BRZ, 2021 - present
Here's the new Subaru BRZ / Toyota GR 86. The new car has a new engine - now the compact coupe is equipped with a slightly larger FA24 engine with a displacement of 2377 cm3, power of 231 hp (170 kW) at 7000 rpm. torque reaches 250 Nm at 3700 rpm. According to the Subaru / Toyoyta manufacturer, the goal was to create a “perfect sports car,” but we know that there are no “perfect sports cars” with 230 hp. Of course, neither Toyota nor Subaru are interested in fitting a turbine to their economy-class sports car, as that would mean a much higher price for the car. In addition to starting to compete with the Toyota Supra which has not only a 3.0 L but also a 2.0 L turbo engine, the Subaru company also has a 2.0 L turbo engine fitted to the Subaru WRX model. In terms of design, the BRZ / GR 86 has not changed much from its predecessor - the emphasis is on the short rear end and the longer front end. The car became a bit more muscular with rounder shapes - it became a bit like its close competitor Nissan 370Z or even Porsche Cayman. Of course, the wheelbase was widened, several modern accents were provided - LED lights, air cavities in the wings. Still, the new model looks neither appealing nor sporty, lacks some distinctive features, and it’s arguable that even the old model looked more interesting. The interior of the new model also remained very similar in style and quality to its predecessor.
