The new generation 4Runner was introduced in 1996 and is now more geared towards luxury-conscious shoppers. This 4Runner came along with the updated Nissan Pathfinder, but this one clearly focused on the larger class - the Ford Explorer, Chevrolet Blazer and Isuzu Rodeo. The new 4Runner got not only a new body, but also a chassis that is now more similar to the Land Cruiser. The most significant changes are a larger body, a longer wheelbase, which increased the interior space.
