Introduced in 1990, the first-generation Previa had a unique mid-range 4-cylinder petrol engine that was mounted directly under the front seats and almost reclined (rotated 75 degrees). The aim is to even out the front / rear weight distribution, which has a positive effect on driving and driving characteristics. However, this prevents the installation of a larger engine, so the car was not very able to share its platform with other vehicles. Interestingly, access to the engine spark plugs was possible through one of the front seats by pulling back and opening the cover. Engine - The 4-cylinder 2.4 L had 135 hp (99 kW) and was mated to a 4-speed automatic or 5-speed manual transmission. This Previa also accommodated seven or eight people in three rows of seats.
