The Audi A4 is a compact car that has replaced the Audi 80 and has hints of luxury. The A4 was produced with sedan and station wagon bodies and was based on the Volkswagen B5 platform like the fourth-generation Volkswagen Passat. The car had longitudinally mounted engines and front or all-wheel drive. The wide range of engines included petrol engines from 1.6 L to 2.8 L and a 1.9 L turbodiesel capable of achieving the then high power of 110 hp (81 kW). The Audi A4 was the first model in the Volkswagen Group to use a 1.8 L 20V engine with five valves per cylinder developed for the Supertouring-class racing car based on the Audi Sport engine. This technology has been added to the V6 family - a 2.8 L V6 with 30V and 193 hp (142 kW). Also making its debut is the Tiptronic gearbox, which is based on the Porsche 911 unit. Drivers especially appreciate the quattro system, car comfort, beautiful design, quality interior, large luggage compartment, good handling. Disadvantages include a cramped rear seat, weak small engines and problematic suspension.
