At the end of 2004, a new A4 was introduced on the same B6 (PL46) platform with sedan, station wagon and convertible bodies. Both the chassis, suspension and engines have been upgraded. Innovative FSI engines with 2.0 L TFSI and 3.2 L V6 FSI liters and power of 200 and 255 hp (147 and 188 kW), respectively, were introduced. Both of these engines have four valves per cylinder, the previous 5-valve design was incompatible with the FSI injection system. As before, the multitronic gearbox is combined with a front-wheel drive system, and the 6-speed tiptronic with an all-wheel drive quattro system. While the car isn’t as fast or well-controlled as the BMW 3 Series, Audi can certainly boast of standard equipment, maneuverability, comfortable driving, powerful engines and a clear quattro system. There are really few negative comments - a lack of space on the back seat and the so-called turbo-engine turbolaga.

Car description
It has good looks, well-assembled, yet I’d not buy the vehicle with the same equipment for the 2nd time (unless the price would be worth spending my money on that). When I bought this vehicle in good condition, mileage run was only 100.000 miles (not rolled-back), the interior was almost brand new, but not for long….
Performance
This engine has 103 kW of power and a superb traction; fuel consumption satisfies my too (approx. 35 mpg in the city). However, this engine became the source of my all troubles… I always paid attention to the manufacturer’s recommendations, tried to follow ‘em and I always took care of if very – all of that was because I had intention to keep if for myself much longer than I actually did. Briefly about my experience… Once I was told that VW/Audi dealers car replace defective injectors for free, but when I got there I was told the opposite – they were good enough to be used… Nevertheless, after a few months one of the injectors completely failed. It took a lot of time to find a new one. Then the time came for the oil pump… Again, plenty of money spent on its repair. After everything was done, I had a few more months to enjoy my car. Unfortunately this happiness didn’t last long… The engine completely broke down… You know, I wasted too much time, money and nerves on this vehicle so I decided instead of looking for any reasonable explanation to sell the car almost for free. It’s good that I got rid of it for I might have had additional headache for the gearbox…
Reliability, running costs
So my running costs were really high, but if to compare it to other cars of a similar class, like VW Passat B6, the depreciation is minimal.
Recommendations to buyers
Now, if you’re thinking to buy this vehicle, don’t go for 2.0 L engine having 103 kW of power. No matter how perfect the vehicle will seem to you, sooner or later you’ll get disappointed. But don’t be afraid of multitronic box, if it’s in a good condition nothing will happen to it and yet be ready for the worst and have some money saved on the side :)… Even though this experience was financially very painful to me, I had worst case – Audi A4 2.5 TDi quattro. Only then it was sold on the right time. Buying a car is like a lottery: either you win or lose.
