The new A4 has changed significantly - both the sedan and station wagon models have a completely new front design with Audi's characteristic large single-frame decorative grille and LED headlights. The car became a little lower, wider and sportier. The new A4 was extended by 117 mm, but the weight was reduced by about 10%. The luggage compartment has also been increased to 480 liters for the sedan, and the station wagon has a maximum capacity of 1430 liters with the rear seats lowered. The new A4 is built on the Audi modular longitudinal platform, on which the A5 coupe is also produced. The new platform allows the front axle to be pushed forward. This means that the wheelbase lengthens (thus increasing the car’s stability and interior space without increasing the car’s dimensions), and the engine has been retracted more to the center, giving the car better weight distribution between the front and rear axles (again meaning better handling). The weight distribution between the A4 axles is now approximately 55:45 depending on the body style and engine. In addition to the Quattro system, Audi has a good reputation for quality interiors and a focus on safety. The new A4 is no exception - the Safety Institute has given the IIHS car the highest safety rating in its class. The A4 has two standard front, side and curtain airbags, ABS and electronic stability system. Inside, the new instrument panel is analogous to that of the A6, and the materials are only of the highest quality (probably better than in the Mercedes-Benz C-Class or BMW 3 Series). So the car has become significantly better, only will it be able to dictate fashion in its class?
