While the Audi that fascinates us are with the names R8 or RS, the car that the company itself loves immensely is the flagship A8. The Audi A8 has always been a special car - the first Audi model to introduce the "A" marking in the model range, a car that replaced everyone in the Audi V8 in 1994 with its innovative design, luxury, dual-zone climate control, LED dashboard, quiet heat-reflecting, noise dimming double glazing and an aluminum Audi Space Frame. Later, the design style of the Audi A8 was taken over by the smaller Audi A4 and Audi A6, so what we see today as Audi's flagship, we will see in other Audi cars tomorrow. The mission of this generation Audi A8 is to set the guidelines for autonomous car makers. Already in previous models, Audi had introduced a progressive semi-autonomous control system, the so-called congestion assistant. However, the new version, which corresponds to Level 3 autonomous cars, is far superior to its predecessors. The car's computer can take full control of traffic in traffic jams on roads where the traffic in the opposite direction is fenced off at speeds of up to 60 km / h. speed. When the congestion mode is activated, the car moves, accelerates, drives and brakes itself. The driver does not need to watch what is going on, he may not keep his hands on the steering wheel. The A8 also has a parking system that builds the car on its own or converts it into a garage. This time, Audi has once again found a way to facilitate a heavy car (especially with regard to future electric cars) - this time carbon fiber is widely used, and its special production method allows this expensive material to be used efficiently in the production process. The majority of the body is still made up of aluminum - 58 percent of it. The exterior of the representative sedan stands out with its wide front grille and athletic lines. Still, the design is modest in emphasizing the model’s progressivity and sophistication. The biggest highlight is, of course, the continuous taillights, which can be seen in other VW Group models introduced at a similar time, the Audi A7 and the Porsche Panamera. The new A8 is more powerful, more economical and larger than the previous model. The length has increased by 37 mm (now 5172 mm), and the wheelbase has also increased slightly by 6 mm. But thanks to the four-wheel drive, the car looks like an Audi A4 in size. One area where the A8 lags behind the Mercedes-Benz S-Class is ride quality. The interior of the Audi flagship is emphatically minimalist - passengers are greeted by a well-designed panel of solid lines with two large screens. Emphasizing the "clean", "glass" style of the interior, even the air vents are hidden. The design of the panel itself, like its predecessor, has retained the style of horizontal lines, so it looks like a natural evolution and gives a sense of space. The new A8 is fitted with five engines: three petrol and two diesel. The car debuted with two new V6 3-liter turbocharged 340 hp petrol and 286 hp diesel engines. Later, two versions of the 4-liter V8 powertrains appeared: 435 hp diesel and 460 hp petrol. Even later, the range will feature an exclusive 6-liter W12 engine, and the debut of the mains-chargeable Audi A8 L e-tron quattro, which, combined with a 3-liter petrol TFSI engine, will deliver 449 hp and 700 Nm of torque.
