The Audi 80/90 series was updated in 1992 and became known as the Audi 80 B4. In Europe, the B4 and its variants were extremely popular. The engines were both 4-cylinder and the already familiar I5, as well as the two new V6s (2.6 L and 2.8 L). For the first time, a new high-torque direct-injection 1.9 L TDI turbodiesel with 90 hp was introduced. All petrol versions could be ordered with a quattro permanent all-wheel drive system.
