The Audi 80 is a compact car with claims to luxury. The car had an innovative round design at the time, and it was also the first mid-size car with a fully zinc-plated body. This gave the body durability and corrosion resistance. In 1988, a 2-door coupe model was introduced. It was basically the same B3 sedan with a shortened wheelbase and a replaced rear end. The coupe models belonged to the Grand Tourism style - it’s a comfortable luxury car with a sporty character, but the car was really not light (especially with a 2.3 L 20V engine) unlike many other lightweight sports cars. These models differed from the usual 80/90 models in that they were made much more often with a leather interior, wood inserts, additional gauge sensors at the bottom of the center console, and a button that locks the rear differential. The cars were produced with 2.3-liter 5-cylinder, 2.0-liter 4-cylinder and 2.6, 2.8-liter V6 engines. The cars could also be produced with a quattro permanent all-wheel drive system.
