With 296 hp, this hatchback is more powerful than many familiar "hot" hatchbacks such as the Ford Focus ST with 247 hp and the Opel Astra VXR with 267 hp. It is clear that Audi is targeting competitors in the heavier weight category: the BMW M135i with 316 hp and the Mercedes A45 AMG with an impressive 355 hp. The relatively modest Audi S3 with a DSG gearbox accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 4.8 seconds and is not inferior to many purebred sports cars. This impression is enhanced by the excellent sound of the exhaust system, well-matched sporty but at the same time forgiving suspension. True from the outside, the car looks modest - only the silver side mirrors, four exhaust nozzles, 18-inch rims and the lower parking position of the car betray that it’s not the usual A3. Most body parts are made of aluminum, which helps to significantly reduce weight. On the road, the car just sticks to the asphalt on a climb, which is a contribution of the four-wheel drive system, but when pressed too hard, there is a lack of cornering. However, the acceleration of the car is simply impeccable on straight sections - you don't feel the "turbo pit" that is often typical of turbo engines. Perfection and quality are felt inside the car. Of course, this is not surprising. The leather seats provide great support for the body, which is really felt in sharp turns, but at the same time is comfortable enough on long journeys. The rear seats will be a bit cramped for an adult passenger, but a five-door version of the Audi S3 Sportback is also available for this purpose, with a more spacious interior for the rear seat occupants.
