BMW 7 Series, 1977 - 1986
The BMW E23 is the first of the most luxurious BMW 7 Series to replace the BMW New Six (E3) sedan and was produced from 1977 to 1986. Although the design of the new model retained a similar style to the old BMW E3, it looked much more modern - the sharp-shaped body with four separate headlights, a "shark's nose" and a sloping trunk looked aggressive and extremely modern. The luxury is provided by the abundant use of chrome, and inside the driver is greeted by a turned-console center console and a high level of luxury. The design of this car was so successful that the E32 model, which replaced it, was only slightly modified - both the exterior and the interior style were simply rounded. The latter was produced until 1994, so it can be said that this BMW style lasted for almost two decades. In 1983, the car was refurbished with the front radiator grille enlarged and the amount of chrome in the bumpers reduced. The range of BMW 7 Series engines started with engines with four Solex carburetors, but soon all engines received Bosch fuel injection systems. The most powerful 754i model had a 286 hp engine with six cylinders in a row and a turbocharger. It was in this first-generation seven that BMW introduced a number of modern electronic functions, including an on-board computer, a maintenance interval indicator, a check control panel that showed the driver faults in various systems, a voice recorder and modern climate control systems. It was also the first BMW with ABS anti-lock braking system, driver airbag and a new design of comfortable front suspension.
