BMW 8 Series, 1989 - 1999

The 8 Series BMW was produced with V8 or V12 engines and a 2 + 2 coupe body. It wasn’t an extension of the 6 Series, and a whole new class aimed at another market segment. The 8 Series was designed as a direct competitor to the upcoming Mercedes-Benz SL and CL classes. While MB cars are two-seater and four-seater, respectively, the BMW seats are 2 + 2. This BMW was the brand’s flagship at the time, the first production car to offer a V-12 engine mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The most powerful version of the 850 Csi had a V12 5.5 L engine with 295 kW (401 hp) of torque, 550 Nm of torque and was able to reach an electronically limited top speed of 250 km / h per hour, but without the limiter the car could reach 299 km / h. At the time, it was infinitely impressive. The car was one of the first BMW cars to feature a multi-lever rear suspension along with the Z1.
