The BMW Z3 became the first modern BMW roadster to be produced on the BMW platform of the E36 3 Series. Soon in 1998, the powerful M version was also produced by the BMW Motorsports division. This car has an improved suspension and engines borrowed from the E36 M3 (S52 3.2 liter with 321 hp) and later from the newer E46 M3 (S54 3.2 liter in a 6-cylinder line engine with 343 hp / 7900 rpm and a torque of 365 Nm / 4900 rpm). In the interior, the center console was fitted with additional engine data displays, various chrome inserts and sporty seats. On the outside, bigger wheels and more aggressive wings stand out. Later, a coupe version with a distinctive 2-door station wagon design was introduced, which was not liked by every BMW fan, but the coupe version definitely looks more aggressive. A small, rear-wheel-drive car on the race track can be a real bomb.
