The BMW M3 is a purebred sports car manufactured by BMW M GmbH with sedan, coupe and convertible bodies. Compared to conventional BMW 3 Series, these have more powerful (though sometimes smaller) engines with improved suspension, braking systems, a more aggressive body and a magical M-mark. Launched in 1992, the M3 was the first to have a 3.0 L six-cylinder engine with 286 hp (210 kW). In 1995, the M3 was upgraded to a 6-speed gearbox, the engine capacity increased to 3.2 L and the power to 321 hp (236 kW), reaching 100 km / h in 5.2 seconds.
The E36 M is the first M-unit produced with a right-hand drive.

To commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the German magazine Auto Motor und Sport, one BMW E36 M3 with a "compact body" (321 hp) was produced, which was tested by the same magazine.
