Magic M3. In 2000, a new M3 appeared with a new 3.2 L S54B32 engine and a coupe or convertible body. This M3 has the most one-liter horsepower atmospheric engine ever made by BMW. On the 3.2 L 6-cylinder line, this engine has 343 hp (256 kW) / 7900 rpm, 365 Nm / 4900 rpm of torque, 0-100 km / h in just 4.6 s, 1/4 mile in 13.3 s, and maximum speed - 298 km / h. The red line starts at the 8000 rpm mark - for the first time in a BMW! The M3 has a new 6-speed gearbox, with an SMG Drivelogic transmission and gearshift levers as in Formula 1 cars - behind the wheel and controlled by a mechanical electro-hydraulic gearbox. The suspension may not seem too comfortable as it is matched for a sporty mode. In short, it is a purebred sports car disguised under the body of a street car. It’s not the most luxurious, and its design isn’t the most expressive of all BMWs, but if you want to feel like a racer, it’s one of the best cars on the market.
This M3 has the most one-liter horsepower atmospheric engine ever produced by BMW before (apart from the supercar McLaren F1, which uses a BMW engine). In the 3.2 L 6-cylinder line, the engine has 343 hp (256 kW) / 7900 rpm, torque of 365 Nm / 4900 rpm, acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in just 4.6 s, 1/4 mile in 13.3 s, and maximum speed - 298 km / h.

A limited series was produced of the impressive E46 GTR version of the car, which had a 3,997 cc V8 engine with 500 hp (368 kW). Only 10 such cars were produced, each costing € 250,000. Manufacturing the car was necessary to participate in the American Le Mans Series (ALMS). Later, two Schnitzer Motorsport GTR BMW cars competed in the 24-hour Nürburgring in 2004 and 2005, where they won 1st and 2nd place.

This car does not have EuroNCAP safety rating.
