The BMW X1 is the new compact representative of the SUV class, which will join the ranks with the larger X3, X5 and X6 models. The X1 is built on the same platform as the all-wheel drive Series 3 station wagon. This small and likable SUV is designed for drivers who value comfort, compactness and a few such high-pass features. According to the manufacturers, the BMW Premium model of the small car will be incredibly agile and modern and will guarantee new driving sensations. The first impression is really not bad: the X1 is a nice, typical BMW design that really fits the car and looks more attractive than the larger X3 model. The interior features excellent BMW materials, quality, and familiar design themes. Inside, the X1 hides the BMW xDrive all-wheel drive system, which distributes power in a 30:70 ratio to the front / rear axle, but can transfer all power to any single axle if required. The engines are a 2.0-liter petrol with 141 hp, 168 hp and 254 hp with a six-cylinder 3.0-liter engine. Diesel buyers can choose from 141 hp, 175 hp and 201 hp 2.0-liter powerplants. Being 10 cm shorter, more economical, and cheaper to maintain than the X3, the X1 is likely to be more popular than the latter. The closest competitors to this model will be the new MINI Crossman and Audi Q3.
