In mid-July 2010, the German car group BMW Group introduced the new second-generation BMW X3 to the world. Launched in 2003, the first-generation X3 was not a beautiful car - more reminiscent of a large station wagon than an SUV. The rigid suspension, poor interior and high price make it worth potential buyers to look at other alternatives or save on the hugely popular BMW X5. The new model is more attractive, less angled and somewhat similar to the smaller X1. The car became 83mm longer, wider and taller than its predecessor. The new SUV is almost the same size as the first-generation X5 (only 19mm shorter). Thus, the X3 becomes a large, solid "parquet" SUV with a range of equipment that provides comfort and excellent driving characteristics. Inside, the car offers simplicity, restraint and this time higher quality materials. There is a large space behind the steering wheel, many different compartments for small items. Buyers of the new BMW can choose from two types of engines: the four-cylinder xDrive20d diesel and the xDrive35i six-cylinder petrol. The two-liter turbocharged diesel engine boasts excellent technical data of 135 kW / 184 hp, low fuel consumption of 5.2 l / 100 km and low CO2 emissions of 149 g / km. 100 km / h speed is reached in 8.5 seconds. The 3-liter petrol turbocharged engine with TwinPower direct injection and Valvetronic variable valve control system generates 306 hp. Dynamic data: car up to 100 km / h. accelerates in just 5.7 seconds, can reach a maximum of 245 km / h. speed. This engine has a fuel consumption of 8.8 l / 100 km and CO2 emissions of 204 g / km. The front suspension of the car is MacPherson type, the rear - multi-lever with Servotronic system, which automatically adapts to the speed of the car and ensures precise control of the car. The BMW xDrive's four-wheel drive system is electronically controlled, so power is distributed to the front and rear wheels according to driving conditions. The optional Dynamic Performance Control system also contributes to excellent driving data, slowing down the wheel on the inside of the cornering and ensuring extremely good traction on the road in sharp turns. The car behaves like a typical BMW on the road - excellent and reliable handling, a small cornering angle, but it dampens well enough even on large road bumps. The steering is well balanced and precise. The only complaint is that in the mechanical drive versions, the pedals are pushed a little to the right than you would like. The BMW X3 is also equipped with a brake energy recovery system. The X3 has a boot capacity of 550 liters, and the folding three-part (40:20:40) rear seat allows the boot volume to be increased to 1,600 liters (for comparison, the main competitor Audi Q5 has 540 and 1,560 liters respectively).
In 2011, Ward's organization selected the interior of this car among the top 10.
