The BMW X6 is a mid-size SUV, although the BMW itself is described as a SAV (Sport Activity Vehicle) rather than an SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle), emphasizing not the off-road capabilities but the car’s excellent performance on the asphalt. The car successfully combines SUV style (high ground clearance, AWD system) and coupe body style (sloping roofline, dynamic engines) and is similar to the X5 at the front. The X6 has a standard xDrive all-wheel drive system that typically delivers 40/60 power forward / rear. However, this system can distribute power to other wheels as needed, say in a turn, giving power to the outer wheel, thus improving the car's response. This system was developed for Formula 1 cars and is somewhat similar to the Honda SH-AWD system. The X6 is built on the BMW X5 platform and is slightly longer and wider, but seats only four people. A hybrid version of the BMW X6 with the ActiveHybrid system is also in production and is the first such BMW. The most powerful X6 version of the xDrive50i features a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine with 408 hp (300 kW) of torque of 600 Nm and can accelerate to 100 km / h in just 5.3 seconds. It is the first serial V8 turbo engine in the world to have turbines mounted in the middle of both cylinder blocks.
