Kogero will tell some of you that the next-generation Z4 roadster was developed by BMW in conjunction with the Toyota Supra. As a result, this BMW will be completely different from previous models. The question may arise as to why two large manufacturers joined forces to create these two similar but at the same time very different models. The answer is only one - both models do not claim to break car sales records, so by creating two manufacturers together, they share half of the high development costs and thus aim to increase profits. BMW assures that the new Z4 will be much more fun to drive, also thanks to the shorter wheelbase. True, the car did not shrink - it became wider and longer. However, the change in these proportions is obvious - the new Z4, unlike its predecessors, has much longer body protrusions behind the wheels, which makes this car visually less sporty and well ... not so "BMW". Whether it’s good or not is up to you, but agree the car design is a little weird. For example, cover the radiator grille at the front and you can easily mix it with the Mercedes-Benz SLK model. The new Z4 is equipped with three engines. The most powerful of these, the M40i is powered by a six-cylinder engine reaching 250 kW (340 hp), which is transmitted to the rear drive wheels via an electronically controlled M Sport differential. Up to 100 km / h. speed, this version of the Z4 accelerates in 4.6 seconds. Compared to its predecessor, the body of the new Z4 is 30% stiffer. Moreover, the manufacturer claims that it will be the strongest open BMW body of all time, the rigidity of which will surpass even the previously produced BMW M4 with coupe body. This is a great achievement for a car with an open body. Despite the larger dimensions, the new model is lighter than its predecessor - it managed to “lose” 60 kg by abandoning the folding steel roof, which was replaced by a fabric one. The car also has a lower center of gravity, which again contributes significantly to the declared better handling characteristics. The BMW Z4 features systems such as adaptive LED headlights with matrix high beam function, the first headlight-mounted BMW Head-Up Display projected on the windscreen, and many other latest systems developed by the manufacturer.
