The CTS car was officially unveiled at the 2007 North American International Auto Show. The CTS is sold with a base 3.6-liter V6 engine with 258 hp (192 kW) and 342 Nm of torque. However, a 3.6-liter V6 VVT engine with direct injection and 304 hp (227 kW) is also available. The standard transmission in the car is the 6-speed Hydra-matic 6L50 automatic transmission. A four-wheel drive version is offered with both engines. The new model is wider and longer than its predecessor - the CTS is 4866 mm long, 1841 mm wide and 1472 mm high. The wheelbase of the car did not change while remaining 2880 mm long. Like its predecessor, the new CTS is offered with rear-wheel drive or a new all-wheel drive option. An extremely powerful version of the Cadillac CTS-V is also produced, which competes with other manufacturers' sports sedans such as the Audi RS6, BMW M5 and Mercedes-Benz C55 AMG. The CTS-V features an impressive 6.2-liter LSA V-8 engine based on the Corvette ZR1 engine. This powerplant delivers a whopping 556 hp (415 kW) and an even more impressive 747 Nm of torque.
