Chevrolet Avalanche, 2002 - 2005
The Chevrolet Avalanche is a four-door, five- or six-seater passenger SUV with a GM chassis used by both the Chevrolet Suburban and the Cadillac Escalade EXT. Unlike a typical pickup, the rear luggage compartment can be accessed through the rear seats (by removing the rear window and folding down the dividing panel). In its first year, the Avalanche had light gray plastic body protectors to make it more different from the Suburban / Yukon XL models. But the new president of GM didn’t like it, so the gray plastic was soon replaced. It was this Avalanche that gave the impression what other GM models would look like - a chrome bar running through the front, separating each headlight and grille in half. Well, and the hood and wings are aggressively curved - unlike other GM SUVs.
