Leganza was created by the famous Italian company Italdesign designer Giorgetto Giugiaro. This project is believed to have been inspired by a 1990 Jaguar Kensington concept car. In the case of the Leganza, Giugiaro had to work with a shorter, front-wheel-drive car rather than a rear-wheel-drive one. The project featured a Daewoo-style chrome front grille and turned it all into a fairly exclusive Daewoo car. The name Leganza is derived from a combination of two Italian words - elegante (elegant) and forza (power).
