Fiat 124 Spider, 2016 - 2020
Although the Fiat brand is not among the most popular in our country, the new 124 Spider has a sense of future success. This recipe for success is very simple - the new roadster is based on the Mazda MX-5, more precisely the Fiat 124 and Mazda MX-5 are twin brothers with the same platform, the same interior, the same great two-link front and multi-link rear suspension and most importantly - rear drive wheels! The design of the Fiat 124 Spider is also commendable - on the one hand, the car is very "Italian", elegant with beautiful silver trim around the windshield. On the other hand, the car has sporty elements - a long bonnet with memorable bumps, inflated wings around the wheels and thus somewhat reminiscent of the American "muscule car" Ford Mustang only reduced. And it’s great - Japanese engineering and Italian design. Under the hood of the car hides a small 1.4-liter Italian turbo engine, which is not a real competitor to Mazda 1.5 and 2.0 atmospheric high-revving engines. Thanks to the higher torque, the Italian unit is designed for a quieter, more casual, less sporty, but very pleasant ride. So far, only this engine is planned, but we know that this Fiat will also have an Abarth version and we know it will be an even more fun car. In addition, Fiat engineers have improved Mazda's already excellent suspension, so the car overcomes turns just amazingly. In addition, the small car is spacious enough - its luggage compartment is 10 liters larger than the Mazda MX-5 thanks to its slightly larger dimensions, and while that’s not a big difference, for a small roadster, every extra liter or centimeter is important.
