The new Civic has become much larger both externally and internally. The car was manufactured with a hatchback body and equipped with larger engines. The new design was called the "bullet shape" and resembled a monovolume - this was done to provide greater stability. The new interior was distinguished by the fact that the gearshift lever was mounted in the very middle of the instrument panel next to the steering wheel. Standard engines, although less fond of high speeds, now have 20% more torque. The suspension has been changed from double wishbones to a simpler and less sporty MacPherson type. Although the rigidity of the car increased, as a result the weight of the car also increased, at the same time the dynamics decreased. The famous Type R version with a 2.0-liter DOHC VTEC engine and 200 hp was also produced. The biggest advantages of the car remain the same - economy, driving fun and reliability. Among the disadvantages is the loss of the previously mounted double wishbone suspension, which has now become simpler.
