Here’s a car that Honda hopes will make hybrid cars “cool”! The Honda CR-Z (Compact Renaissance Zero) is a compact sporty hybrid coupe that combines the features of a sports car with the economy of a hybrid. The car is equipped with the standard hybrid system of this Japanese manufacturer's Integrated Motor Assist (IMA), which is used in both Honda Civic Hybrid and Honda Insight models. The four-seater Honda CR-Z is built on the same platform as the Honda Insight hybrid, but the coupe has a wheelbase of 115 mm and a length of 295 mm shorter (4080 mm long, 1740 mm wide, 1395 mm high and wheelbase - 2435 mm). The weight of the car is 1196 kg. The Honda CR-Z can certainly not fail to recall the cult miniature Honda CR-X coupe of the 1980s and 1990s. It is reminiscent not only of the name of the car, but also of the design - it is a coupe with sharp dynamic shapes with a 2 + 2 seat system. The final, production-ready version was finally unveiled at the Detroit (USA) Motor Show, unfortunately losing some of the design details of the conceptual model and becoming a bit more “earthly,” but the charm still has. The interior of the car is somewhat similar to the Insight model (e.g. a bluish-lit instrument panel), but one cannot overlook the obvious resemblance of the design style to the sporty interior style of the Ferrari 458 Italia. Kogero fans will love it for Honda fans. The CR-Z is powered by a 1.5 L four-cylinder i-VTEC 110 hp petrol engine coupled to a 14 hp electric motor. The total power of the hybrid system is 124 hp at 6000 rpm, the maximum torque is 174 Nm in the range between 1000 and 1500 rpm, and 100 km / h. speed can be reached in 9.7 seconds. Buyers can choose from a 6-speed manual transmission and continuously variable transmission (CVT). The average fuel consumption is 5.0 l / 100 km and CO2 emissions are 117g / km. What's more, drivers can choose from three driving modes - the eco-friendly Eco, the normal Normal and the sporty Sport. This affects the response speed to the accelerator, the power steering, the IMA system, and the climate system. It will also be possible to determine which driving mode is activated from the color of the tachometer lighting. A Mugen version of the Honda CR-Z is expected to be available later.
