The Honda Civic del Sol is a two-seater targa body with a removable roof. It is built on the Civic platform and replaced the popular Honda CR-X. In Spanish, “del sol” means “from the sun,” which is associated with a removable car roof. In some markets, the car was simply called the Honda del Sol. The base version called ESi has a 1.6-liter SOHC 16-valve four-cylinder engine with Honda VTEC technology and 125 hp. The most powerful version of the VTi had a 160 hp (119 kW) Honda DOHC VTEC B-Series engine. The Honda Civic del Sol is a reliable, comfortable for two, economical, fun to drive open car with a relatively large trunk and a low price. However, the car has become much heavier than the previous CR-X, making it less dynamic, and among the rare failures are seat belt and antenna defects.
