The Honda HR-V is a great example of how hard Honda is doing with the car design it was once famous for. Maybe design isn’t an essential thing and it’s already a matter of taste anyway, but people often buy cars based on emotions. Beautiful style is a serious lever in deciding which car with the same technical characteristics to choose. The appearance of the modern-day Honda HR-V in 2015 surprised with its “ugliness” and poor interior quality, so it stretched for only five years. So the new, Honda HR-V looks really much more modern and attractive - the car's lines have become more subtle and solid compared to the straightforward forms of its predecessor. Honda has woken up and finally adapted the shapes of soft lines that have been dictating fashion for some 7 years now. Better late than never. But doesn’t the new Honda HR-V look very similar to the Hyundai Tucson to you? Yes, the Hyundai model is just great, but isn’t this a 2015 car or did the 2021 Honda look more modern? Let's look inside - here again we see a new style that is not overloaded with horizontal, soft lines and "clean" buttons - definitely better than it was. It would look great, but stylistically the interior is almost identical to a replica of the Mazda3. The question is whether Honda has its own style at all. The company has obviously thrown in here and there, even the best Honda style examples - the Honda e and Honda NSX aren’t great. Let’s get back to HR-V. The new car is offered with a hybrid e: HEV transmission and economical low-displacement petrol engines. Unfortunately, this is certainly not enough these days, especially for urban crossovers, as they are the most important market segment. Almost every manufacturer has already released or plans to release an electrocrossover in the near future - like the Mazda MX-30, Hyundai Kona, Hyundai Niro, Peugeot 2008, Ford Mustang Mach-E and others. Honda HR-V is likely to compete on price and the company will continue to migrate towards budget car manufacturer status. This is especially noticeable against the background of South Korean manufacturers, which are rapidly strengthening their positions in the next to premium segment, which was previously dominated by Honda, Toyota and Volkswagen brands.
