The first-generation Honda Legend (manufactured from 1985 to 1990) was produced on a 1985 Honda Accord base and was the first Honda with a V6 engine. With this model, Honda wanted to penetrate the traditional high-end European car market. The main difference between the Legend and other Japanese competitors in a similar class - Toyota and Nissan - is that the Legend is a front-wheel drive car. The Honda Legend has never been widely sold and advertised in Europe, in part because it has its European cousin, the Rover 800. It was the first Honda to have a driver's side airbag, seatbelt pretensioners, traction control system (TCS). It was also the first front-wheel drive car to have a traction control system. The Legend has a sporty two-link suspension at both the front and rear, and the V6 engine had a computer-controlled fuel injection.
