The Honda Legend is a large luxury car made with a sedan and coupe body. The first generation Legend was co-produced with the Rover 800 series. However, this second generation no longer had its own Rover twin. In the United States, the Legend was sold under the Acura brand and competed there with the larger Lexus LS and Infiniti Q45, in Europe the main Legend competitors are slightly smaller luxury cars: the BMW 5 Series, Audi A6, Mercedes-Benz E-Class and Jaguar S-Type. The second generation model was influenced by the Honda supercar NSX as the NSX project was developed on the Legend platform. In this Legend, Honda introduced the passenger side airbag for the first time.
The second-generation Legend platform was used as the testing ground for the Honda NSX supercar, as the NSX project was developed on the Legend platform.

In this Legend, Honda introduced the passenger side airbag for the first time.
