So far, the Toyota Prius has been a great success - it was one of the first, if not the first, successful hybrid cars. But time is running out and competitors are already in a hurry to introduce their models for the segment of economical and practical family cars. The Hyundai Ioniq is another car to take advantage of this formula for success. In addition, it is a bit cheaper and has a better performing gearbox. The Ioniq is produced with three different power plants and drives: a traditional hybrid system, a mains-operated drive and an electric car. This is the first time that one model can offer three different electric drives. Designed to be an affordable, comfortable and practical family car, the Hyundai has focused on making it an enjoyable everyday car. The newcomer is also given the advantage of having a decent six-speed dual-clutch gearbox, unlike the Prius, which comes complete with the criticized CVT gearbox. Soft suspension, a spacious cabin even for those sitting in the back, a 443-liter luggage compartment when Toyota has just 343 liters of luggage space - these are simple but proven methods to win the hearts of buyers looking for not only a modern but also a family-friendly car.
